Aarene Storms is a Youth Services librarian for the King County Library System. Together with retired school librarian Mary Jo Heller, she has presented the popular "Sex in the Library" program for teens, parents, teachers, and librarians since 2002. "Sex in the Library" is a program about mission statements and acquisition policies...but mission statements and acquisition policies are boring. Aarene and Mary Jo don't like to be boring, so they talk about books: specifically, books with sexual content written for teens. In lively conversations with program audiences, they talk about which books you will find in the school library, and which books you'll find in the public library and (most importantly) why those things are different. Their book for librarians entitled "Sex in the Library" will be published by VOYA Press in 2013.
Aarene is also a storyteller, performing for audiences from cradle to college and beyond, specializing in folklore, scary stories, and urban legends. She hosts the popular weekly radio storytelling program on KSER public radio.
