Keeping our Patrons' Secrets: Privacy policies and audits for Library 1.0, 2.0 and beyond

This presentation given May 4, 2007 was part of the PORTALS series on Library 2.0. Don't miss Al Cordle's fascinating companion presentation on Privacy in Practice, also posted on NW Central! My presentation discusses the legal and professional ethical context for library policies that protect patron privacy and confidentiality; suggests what should be covered in a library privacy policy (generally and in the context of Library 2.0); and discusses the importance of privacy audits and staff training in maintaining patron privacy.
