Speaker's Bio/Recent Trainings

As a librarian I wear two hats, one as a part-time reference librarian at Portland Community College, and the other as the coordinator of library continuing education.  In collaboration with the Portland-area continuing education committee, I organize hands-on workshops on a range of topics (http://www.portals.org/events/events.shtml ), and help administer Northwest Central.  I have learned effective strategies for organizing trainings and promoting peer-to-peer learning.

As a community college librarian, a special interest in the role of the library in supporting student retention.  I gave a presentation on this topic at the Student Success and Retention Conference with Sue Phelps and Robert Schroeder.  Bibliography - The Library and Librarian's Role in Student Success and Retention .

In private life I enjoy hiking, camping, reading, and ferrying children to events.
