Resource Type: Presentation
Topics: Reference
Here are the presentation slides and handouts from Andrew's Nov. 7. 2008 workshop:
Workshop description:
Pharmacology questions are complex and intimidating. This workshop will teach you how to effectively handle questions and find information concerning drugs and their usage. Topics to be covered include:
* how to identify the various names and codes that can be used to refer a specific drug
* the concept of pharmacologic actions and how these can be used to help answer questions
* how to break down a question into the specific aspects of a drug's identity, usage, regulation, and economic potential.
This training will also review print and electronic drug information resources available to librarians and the general public, and identify the strengths and weaknesses of each one to answer the specific aspects mentioned above.
Workshop participants will receive 4 Medical Library Association continuing education contact hours that can be applied to a Consumer Health Information Specialization - http://www.mlanet.org/education/chc/
